The river Sog is well known amongst anglers for both the salmon fishing and the char fishing. The Asgard beat at river Sog is one of the very best rivers in Iceland and offers both very good char/trout fishing and an excellent lodge. The freshwater char can grow up to sizes of 12 pounds. In addition to the char, brown trout and sea-trout are also caught. The prime time for trout is in early spring (April – June). It only takes about 45 minutes to drive to the river from Reykjavik, so it is ideal for short day-trips as well a longer tours. Guiding and all gear & tackle can easily be arranged upon request.

The Char is both Searun Arctic Char and Native and Native Arctic Char , the sizes is from 3 pounds up to as big as 12 pounds.

In the National Park just few minutes drive away from Asgardur beat on river Sog is the famous Lake Thingvallavatn. Here you will catch the biggest Brown Trout of the world , this amazing Brownies can be as large as 30 pounds and 10 to 20 pounds is common! We would be happy to add on your Trout Safari few swifts on Lake Thingvallavatn so you can experience how it is to fight this monsters!
The lodge is amazing and is located in the most perfect place right on the river , you can actually walk to most of the best places , the rest of the pools it only take you minutes by car.

The Trout and the Char season is from 1st April until 24th September , Asgardur beat have all the trout species of Iceland which is so unique , the Brown Trout , Seatrout , Native Arctic Char and Searun Arctic Char. When it comes in to July , August and September the Salmon is running and then you can split up the day and do both Trout fishing and Salmon fishing. There is also some great salmon rivers in short distance from Asgardur beat river Sog , and we would be happy to take you on a tour for few swifts if you like.
The Lodge is amazing with all comfort , sauna , Jacuzzi and outside showers. 4 comfortable bedrooms including 1 suite, the lodge can sleep up to 8 persons.
The amazing colors of the Arctic Char , it is such a beautiful and hard fighting fish , great sport in every way.
For the trout fishing we use single handed rods weight 5 to 7 , 9.6 foot , all floating lines , upstream nymphing or dry flies.

In 2021 we landed over 800 Trout and Char on Asgardur beat river Sog , most of them caught in the spring , April , May , June .. for the rest of the season there is plenty of them around but then anglers so busy chasing the Salmon.

Asgardur lodge is the best self catering lodge you can find in Iceland , the lodge is very cozy and comfortable and well equipped with sauna , jacuzzi and outside showers , 100 square meters , 4 twin bedrooms including 1 suite , all with private bathroom. There is a large verandas with amazing views over the rivers and the pictures mountains around. Nice and comfortable sitting room with TV and WiFi.
Inside you will find a full kitchen with a refrigerator and a fridge. In the hallway there is a Finnish Sauna.
