Tungufljót
Tungufljót is a powerful salmon river, plenty of water, gin clear and not troubled by any environmental effects of low/high water. The flow is steady throughout the season.
Tungufljot river is located 100 km South East of Reykjavík, only an hour away from the capital of Iceland Reykjavík. This makes transfer from the airport convenient and anglers can go direct from the International Airport to the river and back.
Little Vala and Arni with two nice grilse on the upper flats, this afternoon they landed 17 salmon.
Tungufljót is 7km long from the waterfall Faxi down river to the junction of Hvítá. We fish it only with 2-4 rods depending on the season giving anglers enormous space to fish. 
Tungufljót has gin clear water and offers endless pools for fly fishing. The Tungufljot rivers system is one of the biggest in Iceland, it is the main river which is about 30 km long with three attractive tributaries which joins the main river on the upper part plus several other tributaries and sight streams.
Many of the Tungufljot Salmon are big fish indeed, every season we land a few over 100cm and numbers of Salmon from 90 to 99 cm.

Picture is taken from the lower canyon of the West bank of Tungufljót. We fish both banks, East and West. Each bank has different pools, meaning you have to fish both banks every day.

There are some amazing fly water on the Upper Flats pools above Faxi falls , pool after pool and some of them hardly fished so big is the beat.
Prime time on Tungufljót is from the middle of July to the end of September with the backend of the season proving year after year to be the best time.

Tackle
13 foot double handed rod 9 weight with a full floating line. Bring in case of cold waters sink tips 8-12 foot long, sink 2,3 and 4.
Flies: Sunray Shadow on plastic tube in various sizes from 3 to 7 cm long wing , Monroe Killer , Silver Sheep , Silver Wilkenson , Black and Blue , Under Taker , Black Brahan all in sizes from 4 to 8.
