Stóra Laxá Beat III is the middle section of Stóra Laxá. It holds 2 rods comfortably and has plenty of space for each angler. It is a beat with great variety, rocky canyon pools as well as pools with lower banks and calm water. Pools such as Heljarþrem and Sveinssker can be found on this beat, both are very well known in the Icelandic angling community.


The boundaries of this beat are as follows: from (and including) the pool Sveinssker and up to (and including) the pool Undirgangur.

The cottage at beat 3 is small and cosy with 2 twin bedrooms. There are 4 duvets and pillows in the house and guests are reminded to bring bedding or sleeping bags with them. The kitchen  has all the basic appliances as well as a stove, oven, microwave and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. Everything in the house is based on 6 persons and there are no extra mattresses. Propane-grill and hot tub on the patio. Guests are reminded to take good care of the house and leave the house clean and tidy. Please remember to throw the garbage in the big container outside the house.

Directions to the cottage:  The cottage is located about 100km from Reykjavik. Highway 1 is driven through Selfoss and then you take a left turn into Skeiðaveg where there is a sign that says Flúðir and the road number is 30. You drive on Skeiðarvegur until you reach Þjórsárdalvegur which is number 32. There you take a right turn, where a sign says Árnes. You drive along the river Þjórsá for about 9km and then you take a left turn onto a gravel road number 325,  there you see a sign marked Ásaskóli. At that intersection there is a big blue sign which is good to look at, the fishing cottage is located by the farm Hlíð.  You take a left turn from road 325 to road 326, there you drive towards the farm Hæli. When you reach that farm you drive on the left side below the farm and drive further until you reach the farm Hlíð . At Hlíð you drive through the farmyard –Please drive carefully through the farmyard because there can be children or animals there –  and follow the gravel road to the cottage.  Note that you do not see the river until you are very close to the cottage.

What you need with you: Bedding/sleeping bag, towels and soaps.

Visitors rules: Anglers can arrive at the house an hour before the fishing starts and at departure an hour after the fishing ends. Please remember to leave the house clean and tidy.
