River Svarta is a gin clear four rod river in north Iceland. The river is a tributary to the Blanda river and so the salmon in Svarta have to navigate the powerful Blanda to get to the river.

Svarta is therefore known for powerful and large salmon which provide a good fight for your money on a single handed rod.

Svarta has a good self-catering lodge with five twin rooms and a jacuzzi. If needed you can also stay at the full service Holahvarf lodge close by.

Svarta is an excellent option for a group of friends or a large family.

We have dates open in Svarta August 6-11th and 16-21st. Those are absolute prime dates for the river.
