Good start in Iceland

The First Icelandic salmon rivers to open have now been fished for  over a week. Norðurá had a good start but was a bit slower in the days after which is normal, now the fishing is picking up again.  Blanda opened under new rules of fly only and the opening was a success when you factor in the river was very high in water and colored.

Þverá and Kjarará opened with twelve salmon for each river which is a good result and awfully much better that last year when we had the drought ruin the opening.

We have had reports of grilse showing in all the rivers opening and they come  extremely fat and healthy from the ocean which is a good sign for the summer.
