Coronavirus status in Iceland

We in Iceland have sadly not been left out of this awful pandemic which has affected our world greatly in the past months. But we can proudly say we are almost over the hill now here in Iceland with hardly any new infections for the last few days.

The total number of infections here in Iceland are to date 1801 and 1765 have recovered so active sick patients today are only 26 persons. Sadly there have been deaths but the good doctors of our nation have managed to keep the death rate at only 1% which of course is still too much.

As the pandemic is now in steep decline sanctions have already been lifted somewhat in Iceland and they will be lifted even further as time goes by.

We sincerely hope we can welcome our foreign anglers this summer but as of now we simply do not know how or if travel will resume. The government will announce the plans to open up later this month and we will keep all of you informed.

We sincerely hope you and your loved ones are safe in all of this and hope too see you in the not too distant future.
