River Blanda was quite okay in 2017, not her best year but certainly not the worst. In general rivers in the north did not do so well in 2017 with runs disappointing.
In total; river Blanda had 1433 salmon in 2017 compared to 2386 in 2016 which was an excellent year. River Blanda was number seven on the list of the best salmon rivers in Iceland in 2017.
Blanda has a strong base of returning customers, most that try the river once will return. The river is very varied with beautiful large pools on the lower section but smaller more gentle flow on the topmost section were a single hander is best suited. If you were to fish the river for a week in different beats you would explore new pools each day and would certainly enjoy it.
