Wonderful start in river Svartá

River Svartá opened on July first with a bang. In the first shift six multiyear salmon were caught and many lost. Svarta is usually a late summer river and early in the season most are caught in the bottom part of the river but not this year. None of the six salmon were caught in the lower part, and the anglers reported that salmon is in pools in the upper part of the river in numbers. Svartá seems to follow the trend this year of early going salmon.

In the first two days the river gave 20 multiyear salmon up to almost 100 cm. Pictured is a 90cm male salmon which fell for a micro German Snælda in pool Brúnarhylur.

Svartá is almost sold out for the summer and we have already started booking for 2017.
