Two days until Salmon!

We are getting really excited as the looong wait is finally about to be over. The first river to open for salmon fishing in Iceland is the Straumar junction which pens in only two days from now on June 1st.

Straumar is known for good early fishing as the beat is close to the river mouth of the famous Norðurá where it flows into the larger Hvítaá river.

Next to open is river Norðurá on June 3rd and then river Blanda on June 5th. Salmon has already been seen in both rivers so we are expecting good news from both openings.

Most of the other Icelandic rivers then open on June 20th, after that date you can say that the salmon season is getting in to full swing.

Happy season!
