Tungufljot is a large river system close by the famous Geysir, only just over an hour from Reykjavik. Below the Faxi falls there is a salmon beat with four rods and above the falls there is a trout beat with 8 rods.
The salmon beat gave over 300 salmon last summer and we expect even better results for 2017. We have recently restarted a smolt release program and we are optimistic that in years to come the salmon beat will give several thousand fish every year. The licenses for the river are relatively low cost but the fishing can be very good.
The river is absolutely beautiful with gin clear water and perfect fly pools. Some anglers have raved especially about the pool just in front of the magnificent waterfall – Faxi.
The trout beat is very diverse with the Main River and smaller tributaries that flow in it. The beat is massive in size so there is plenty of space for the 8 rods. The beat is not easy, you have to work hard to find the fish, but when you unlock the secrets the prices are great with brown trout up to 5 kg caught.
