21 February 2012  The Ranga‘s (East & West) have very similar patterns of salmon runs. Around mid July we see the catch figures start to rise quickly and the runs peak in the end of July and early August. The last few days in July and the first 10 days of August are the top days in both of the rivers.
We still have some absolute prime rods in late july and early August in the Ranga‘s, although the very first days in August are fully booked in both rivers.
Summer is approaching fast – only a few months away!

The year 2012 is a very special year for me and my family; it marks the 25th anniversary of Lax-á. It seems unreal to me that we have been doing this for a quarter of a century now. It really doesn't feel that long ago that my wife Vala and I started running this angling club from a tiny garage.
The early years were tough, as with most new ventures, but we persisted and over the years we have seen many of you return to fish with us year after year - to us that's the greatest compliment. We have grown a lot in 25 years, we now have between 30 and 40 rivers and beats exclusively leased in Iceland, a couple of beats on the Dee in Scotland and rivers in Norway, Russia and Argentina under our belt as well. The permanent Lax-á staff now numbers 10 people and during the summertime we have over 120 people working the rivers and lodges in Iceland.
Our aim has not changed though; we strive to offer the best fishing and the best service possible to our clients. The high number of revisiting anglers tells us that we are doing something right. Our emphasis on salmon preservation

20 February 2012  Last week saw an increase in catches with FishDee beats reporting 92 salmon and 1 sea trout which was well up on the previous week’s total of 66 salmon. The best return for the week was reported again by Lower Crathes with 16 salmon and 1 sea trout, Invery had another good week with 9 salmon, Lower Blackhall had 8 including a 22 lb salmon, Little Blackhall and Park reported 7 with another 22 lb fish reported from Little Blackhall. There were a lot of good anglers out fishing last week I believe and conditions were by and large pretty favourable through the week until a blizzard hit the river on Saturday afternoon. It is pleasing to hear that fish are now being caught in the Aboyne area which will provide encouragement for anglers fishing the Upper Dee beats that will be fished in March.

17 February 2012  Most anglers associate salmon fishing in Iceland to summertime, but autumn fishing can also be very good as well. In September around 90% of the salmon stock has returned to the rivers and where catch & release is practiced the rivers are jam packed with fish. In the autumn the spawning process is beginning and male salmon are very aggressive – so the catches are good. Icelandic anglers do much of their fishing in the autumn.
