Svarta River – a fly fishing gem

The river Svarta in the north-west is one of the most fun fly fishing rivers that can be found. Her flow is very fast on the upper part, but she calms down on the lower part. The pools are very diverse, a canyon with the traditional rapids and swirls, fast flowing rocky stretches and calm pools are found almost side by side. The catch figures in Svarta have been on a steady rise in the last years and it doesn‘t hurt that the lodge has been renovated considerably, last year the kitchen was completely redone and this year we will do the same for the bathroom.

Svarta has often been considered a late season river, but July can also be very good, not surprisingly as the river is right in the middle of one of the best July fishing river system in the country – the Blanda system.
