Stora Laxa -salmon fishing in 2019

Stora Laxa river is absolutely unique. The river consist of three beats: beat 1&2 with four rods, beat three with two rods and then the topmost beat, beat 4 with four rods.

The river is unique in two ways. First of all beat 4 which is the topmost beat is  so stunning you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful piece of salmon water.  Secondly the river is one of the few in Iceland were actual prime time is the month of September.

In the autumn when it starts to pour down, the stock of salmon in the river first venture upstream from the main glacial river Hvítá. When that happens there is a feast for every angler and the four rods on beat 1&2 have sometimes got up to 60 salmon in one day.

Stora Laxa is a river which i can certainly recommend
