I visited Ura for the first time now in June , I had heard many people say it is beautiful river , but I did not expect it was such a pretty river , for me it is the nicest fly water I have seen in Russia.
Ura is a medium size river , you can cross it by feet at many places.
Gin clear water , where you mostly use floating line and small flies. Small double handed rod , single handed rod will work as well.
I just had the feeling I was fishing an Icelandic salmon river when i fished Ura.
Ura have endless pools , I think the river is ideal for 4 - 6 rods , best time for the trophy Salmon is from early June until mid July , from mid July and August there is a mixture of large salmon and grilse.
Ura is not for high volume fishing , you are fishing Ura for qualitie trophy salmon , expected catch is somewhere betweene 1 - 4 salmon a day pr. rod.
At the moment there is no fishing lodge at Ura , but the distance from Murmansk is only 45 minutes drive so no problem to be accommodated in Murmansk Hotel and drive every morning to Ura , or also a possibilitie to stay in the Kola Camp and go earlie morning to Ura with packed lunch and come back in the evening for late dinner at Kola Camp.
It is ideal to extend the Russian fishing trip , taking a week on Kola river or Ponoi and then add few days on Ura , all by car and short way to the Airport so easy!
We provide all the transportation , accommodation , meals , guides , boats , ideal is to take one guide and a boat for 2 rods. You drive in by a 4WD vehicle at the top of one of the beats , then you float down all day long , at the end of the beat in the evening ( or agreed time ) your vehicle will be waiting for you and take you to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. The next fishing day you will be floating down another and different part of the river.
It is completely wild , nature is fantastic , there is no houses or villages around.
