Upper Kola will be a part of the 8 rod program that we are going to run on the Upper kitza , Upper Kola and river Ura.
One of the most exciting day I had in Russia this season was when I floated down the Upper Kola river in June , what a surprize ..... a whole new beat plentyful of fantastic pools.
I went by 4WD vehicle for a 45 minutes drive up stream above the big Bear Lake , we found a place where we could drive down to the river with our boat. Me and Guide Sergei floated down the whole beat all day long and not in camp until mid night. Was far to much fishing for 1 rod , we could only fish a part of the beat , but for 2 rods it would be a perfect long day work.
I must say I had a great day , I hooked 6 salmon , landed 3 and lost three , there are big fish around on this beat , that is for sure.
This beat will be the perfect beat in the combination with Upper Kitza and the Ura river on the 8 rod program, and this beat will be for sure for the monster salmon.
We will opperate on Upper Kola from mid June until end of July which should be the prime period for this beat.
Upper Kola is touch .... rapits that will skear you ... do not float down , always walk down the river bank , and there is many many rapits , pool , tail then rapits .. gain and again for 15km, this is the hardest part of the Kola river for sure.
The idea is to make a program full of excitements and fish diffrent rivers with in one week , and Upper Kola would be a part of that program.
My plan is:Party of 8 rods fish this adventurous safari river program, there will be three different rivers to fish with in a week.
2 days 2 rods Upper Kitza.
2 days 2 rods Upper Kola river
2 days 4 rods Ura river.
These 8 rods will then fish on a rotation basis , each beat for 2 days , but only 1 day at a time and then to another river and then back later to the same beat. Every 2 rods will have a Guide and boat for floating down the river. All days will be long and hard work , early morning until late evening. Packed lunch on the river. The distance is not that long to the upper Kitza and Upper Kola from the Kola camp , but the ones going to Ura have to accept 1 and half hour drive. All in all I think the best is to stay in the Kola camp where you have all the comfort , the breakfast , dinner , place to sleep , sauna , showers etc.
We could either arrange for comfortable tents as showed on the pictures , only for sleeping , then meals , shower and sauna taking in the main camp , tents only a minute away from the camp , another options could be to add few more cabins to the Camp for this venue , but it would make the program more expensive.
