The Lax-á Sandbrota Beat in Gaula – the ideal, classic, salmon fishing pool for big salmon in June !
After several years of scouting for the best beats and framework for the ideal salmon fishing offer in Norway, we have found a fantastic beat – Sandbrøta – just below the big rapid Gaulfossen. Gaulfossen divides River Gaula in a upper and lower part and in early June salmon don´t rise through Gaulfossen due to high and cold water level.

Therefore the lower part of Gaula normally keeps the best June beats, especially those located close to Gaulfossen. The Lax-á beat Sandbrøta is available for booking during the whole of June and earlyu July , it is suitable for up to 4 rods at the same time. The beat keeps several pools and stop places for big salmon rising. Sandbrøta fishes very well in June and for an example the opening week in 2009 alone produced 50 salmon averaging 20 pounds.
Our offer includes weekly fishing and accommodation in a classic Norwegian house just a stones threw from the river and our beat.
We will operate just the best weeks every year, the full June and first week of July are the best ones for big salmon fishing.
For 2011 we weill operate jsut the best weeks at Sandbrota for the big fishing in June. 6 days 24 h fishing a day, 4 rods daily:
1st June - 7th June - 4 rods
7th June – 13th June – 4 rods
13th June – 19th June – 4 rods
19th June – 25th June – 4 rods
25th June – 01st July – 4 rods

- Lodge Sandbrota
Our fishing lodge and base camp situated just a few metres from the river Gaula and Sandbrøta beat, is fantastically positioned for a focused hard‐core salmon fishing week. This traditional Norwegian house is newly renovated and suitable for fishing adventures.
The house has all necessities you can expect to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The lodge has 4 bedrooms in total and sleeps 8. The lodge presents a living room/lounge with TV and DVD, dining areas, several showers and toilets, drying room for waders and wet gear, etc.
Outside there is a nice place where you can spot the river, have a coffee and a rest, tie a fly for the evening event or have your dinner under the bare sky. The lodge and the beat is situated approx 1h 15m by car from the Trondheim Airport.
Guides, rental cars, pick up service from Trondheim Airport can be booked upon request.
It’s all there for you to use and enjoy!
There is a nice veranda with barbecue. The Gpahauk (fiher's hut) by the river bank provides excelent acomodation for lunch time and a place for resting for the customers.
