The fishing at Lower Crathes beat is going very well this season and now the second week in a row the beat had the best fishing on River Dee. According to River Dee weekly newsletter the conditions look ideal for anglers fishing the River Dee this week with a very favourable weather forecast allied to high spring tides which should bring new fish forward.
The BBC weather forecast is showing air temperature maxima around 11 degrees Celsius with no overnight frosts predicted. It may be a bit breezy on Wednesday with some rainfall which may see the river levels rise with rain and snowmelt from the mountains. The maritime influence sees tides rising this week from 4.0 metres to 4.4 metres and then dropping back to 4.1 metres at the weekend. As long as we don’t get a big rise in river levels then sport should be reasonable for anglers during the week.
Available rods
We have available 1 rod on the Lower Crathes tomorrow the 21st and 2 rod again the 22nd. Next week we have 4 rods available from the 27th to 29th of February and 1 rod available 1st and 2nd of March. The week after that there is available 1 rod from 5th to 9th of Marc. After these days there is not much else available on the Lower Crathes beat. For more information please contact

16 May 2012 We start in the morning and head to the area around glacier Eyjafjallajökull. We drive on rough roads and cross numerous glacier rivers to reach Thorsmörk glacier and volcano valley. We spend some time exploring these adventurous surroundings. In the early afternoon we leave this lovely rugged environment and drive down to the black basalt sand shore south of Eyjafjallajökull-glacier. Right here by the Atlantic Ocean we experience the enhanced driving ability with the partly deflated 38" tires. In the end off the day we head back to Rangá lodge. More...
