Monster trout time

Lake Þingvallavatn opens tomorrow and surely there will be many anglers battling the elements in the hope of catching a monster trout.  Prime time for the trout is considered spring time from around the opening until the beginning of June, after that time the trout goes from the shores to the deeper parts of the lake in search of prey.

So if you want one, the time is now or soon at least. I for one will not be going tomorrow, the forecast is about 1c with wind of to 15m/s, could even be some snow if you are lucky J And to top that off tomorrow is a public holiday in Iceland, because according to the calendar it’s the first day of summer.

I will be bringing you news about the opening on Friday, those brave enough will surely get their reward.
