Leirvogsá is one of the best

Reykjavik is blessed in the sense that there are two salmon rivers that flow directly through the city. One of them is the famous: „Elliðaár“which is pretty much right in the middle of Reykjavik, the other one: „Úlfarsá/Korpa which is in the outskirts of the city.

There is one other river close by the city limits in which we have just acquired the lease of. The river is called: „Leirvogsá“and is just about 20 -25 minute drive from downtown Reykjavik.  Even though the river is very close to the city it is very private and there are only a handful of farms in the valley.

Leirvogsá has been very popular with local anglers and has been for the past decades one of the best rivers in Iceland when you factor in salmon per rod ratio.

The river is on the smaller side, gin clear with over 40 marked pools. Excellent river for those who do not want to travel far but still be able to catch their fair share.

As we have just recently leased the river, we still have a few slots open next year.
