We just had a photo sent from Vididalsá of a monster salmon caught there this morning. Ms. Louise Charlton landed a 106 cm long salmon at 9 am at junction pool in Vididalsá. The salmon was caught on Madeleine 16#, with the assistance of the guide Johann Hafnfjord. According to the VMST 106 cm long salmon is 11,8 kg. harpa@lax-a.is
Here is a picture of a 20 lbs salmon caught by Markus Kemmer in West Ranga when he visited us end of August last year. He is returning this year to catch its brother. The salmon was caught on Beat nr. 1 on a special Sunray, it took about 15 minutes to land. But the catch was a real treat both for Markus and his guide Johannes as you catch many salmon there but there are few big ones.
Laugardalsa in the West Fjords is having an amazing season. This charming little river is already up to around 400 salmon but the average year of Laugardalsá is about 400 salmon and we have whole good month still to fish the river. It will be interesting to see the final number there. harpa@lax-a.is
Trout is one of my specialties. And here at Lax-a, we know how to put you over and onto some of the best trout fishing in the world. From the monstrous Sea Trout of Tierra Del Fuego in far southern Argentina to the just really big Sea Trout of Iceland, to acrobatic Rainbow Trout in Alaska, British Columbia, Argentina and Chile, to deep bellied Dolly Varden in Alaska to hugh fiery red Arctic Char of remote Ungava Bay to Brown Trout lurking in nearly every corner of South America, New Zealand and Iceland, to Brookies which will take you to the mat in Canada and Argentina and feisty Steelhead in the Pacific Northwest and wilds of Alaska.
West Ranga has had a great season but yesterdays numbers of the total numbers of salmon caught Ytri are 1454. The best fishing has been in Ægisíðufoss (waterfall), Ásinn and on the Langáflúðir. The water as always is great and clear.
I just counted the numbers so far caught on the Vididalsa , 460 have been landed , it is slightly better than last year , then at the same same 390 salmon was landed , Arni arnibald@lax-a.is
