The main river has pools ranging from the gorge in the upper reaches to gentle meandering pools in the lower reaches where the river winds its way across the valley floor. The tributary, Fitja is rougher as it flows over a rockier bed. Fitja is classed as a beat and produces a fair percentage of the system's annual catch, especially during the first four or five weeks of the season.
Almost all pools are accessible by jeep and little walking is required. There is a lot of easy wading done throughout the river.
