Tannastadir

Perfect for the family!

The River

Tannastadir is a well known fishing beat in Sog river, the largest spring fed river in Iceland. It is a two a rod beat and with the rods is a comfortable fully furnished lodge with a jacuzzy on the veranda. It is located only 45 minutes from the capital Reykjavik and there is only a 5 minute drive to Selfoss and 15 minutes to Hveragerði. It is perfectly located for the family and you can go fishing, swimming and rent a horse all in a 10 minute drive from the lodge.

Salmon fishing gets into prime late in the season, from late July until September and there is good char fishing in the spring and early summer. In the upper part of the fishing beat you can catch the big big chars the Sog river is known for. Average catch on the beat is from 80-100 per season on the two rods.

This beat is ideal for families or friends who wish to relax and catch a few salmon, hardly any walking involved and the main pool is easy to fish. Syðri Brú is located only 45 minutes away from Reykjavík wich makes it ideal for daytrips or even half-days fishing. Although the single hand rod will probably do in this beat – you‘ll improve your chances with a double handed rod
