Tannastadir is a well known fishing beat in Sog river. Salmon fishing gets into prime late in the season, from late July until September. Still there is good char fishing in the spring and early summer. In the upper part of the fishing beat you can catch the big big chars the Sog river is known for.
Location: South Iceland, 50 km from Reykjavik.
Directions: Drive from Reykjavik, passing
Hveragerdi village. Turn left just before arriving
Selfoss village by a sign that says Laugarvatn. Drive that road for few minitues passing the Tannastadir farm on your left (a yellow house). The dirt road to the fishing cabin is on your right just after passing the farm. The by pass is very small so you must drive slowly to see it. There is a Lax-á sign by the gate.
Please remember to write down all fish you catch.
Fishing area: About 3 km. where clear Sog river water mixes with Hvitá river water. On the spit lies a lot of salmon after mid summer.
The juntcion is ideal for fly fishing.
Easy access to pools, a bit of walking required to the top and bottom pools.

07:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 21:00 (August 20th to September 28th)

Recomended tackles: Single handed rod, 9-10", floating line 7-9
Double handed rod, 13-15", floating line 9-11
Best flies: Black and Blue, Sunrise Shadow, Collie Dog, Francis and Snaelda.
A cumfortable cabin is at Tannastadir, it is small but cozy. There are 2 twin/tripple rooms, kitchen/sitting room and a bathroom.
By the lodge is a nice veranda with a hot jacuzy and a gas barbeque.
Remember to clean the house and take the garbage with you when leaving the house, unless other have been agread on.
