The Syðri Brú beat is the uppermost beat in Sogid – the largest spring fed river in Iceland. It‘s a one rod beat with a brand new self catering lodge. The lodge is an ideal for families or small groups and is located less than 2 minutes from the beat. The lodge is very spacious and beautiful with 3 bedrooms, big lvingroom and dining area. The lodge accomodates 6 people in one double room and two twin rooms and then there are matresses in the attic. The river view from the lodge is spectaculuar.
Fishing Lodge: There are 4 duvets and pillows in the house and guests are reminded to bring bedding or sleeping bags with them. In the kitchen you can find all the basic appliancis, as well as a stove, oven, microwave and a big fridge with a small freezer compartment. Everything in the house, except beds, is based on 12 people. Propane-grill on the patio. Guests are reminded to take good care of the house and, throw all the garbage out to the big container by the house and leave the house clean and tidy after their stay.

Directions to the Lodge: From Reykjavik you drive Highway 1 to Hveragerði, a little bit before you come to Selfoss you tunr left into road number xxxx and follow the signs to Þingvellir. You drive through Þrastalundur and then when you come at a sign Þingvellir (road 36) your turn left. That road you drive 8 km untilyou see a big electricity tower, you turn left into a dirt road. Then to your right and then second turn to your left (do not take the red dirt road). At the top of the second left turn you see the house down a hill close to the river.
What you need with you: bedding/sleeping bags, towels and soaps. Visitation rules: Anglers can arrive at the lodge an hour before the fishing starts. At departure guests can stay at the house an hour after the fishing ends. Always remember to leave the house clean and throw the garbage out.

Fishing in Syðri Brú has been on a steady rise for the past years, in 2009 141 salmon were landed there and in the summer of 2010 a total of 218 salmon were caught on this wonderful beat – with a high number of multi-winter salmon
The lodge is brand new and very spacious and beautiful. There are three bedrooms, two twin rooms and one double room. There is also mattresses in the attic. The lodge is fully eccuipped with silverware and all that guests will need.

This beat is ideal for families or friends who wish to relax and catch a few salmon, hardly any walking involved and the main pool is easy to fish. Syðri Brú is located only 45 minutes away from Reykjavík wich makes it ideal for daytrips or even half-days fishing. Although the single hand rod will probably do in this beat – you‘ll improve your chances with a double handed rod
