- The River
Langadalsá is a wonderful, 4 rod, fly only river located in the amazing Westfjords.
Langadalsá is an ideal choice for a small group of friends wishing to have sole use of a river and the self-catering lodge for a week. It is a perfect haven
of peace and quiet which makes it one of our most sought after rivers. The average size of fish is quite impressive; around 9 lbs, but fish up to 20 lbs are seen each season. Note that all salmon over 70 cm must be realeased.
This river is enigmatic, sometimes almost brooding as it wanders unruffled along its valley, the birch covering the nearby hills, the plentyful birdlife adding to the serene setting.
Arctic char is found in the lower pools of the river, often in great numbers. These fish range up to 4 or 5 lbs and are a terrific sport on light tackle.
You'd never believe it, but they will take you into your backing before you have a chance to reel in the slack! A splendid idea is to visit the estuary at the low tide....or when the high tide is full, catch a few char and barbecue them. Have some salt and lemon pepper and wheel out the gas barbeque. You will hardly taste better fish than a fresh run arctic char.
2006: 332 salmon caught
2007: 228 salmon caught
2008: 369 salmon caught
2009: 363 salmon caught
2010: 256 salmon caught

Tackle disinfection: Iceland has always been free of diseases like UDN and Gyrodactylus salaris and we intend to keep it that way. There is a strict policy of visiting anglers having their tackle sterilized before coming to Iceland. This should be done in a 2% formaldehyde solution for 10 minutes and performed by a veterinary surgeon. (Tackle sterilized in Virkon S is also acceptable.) A signed inventory of what has been sterilized should be provided by the vet for presentation to the customs officers at Keflavik airport. The most important items to be treated are: rods, reel/line, waders and flies.
The process can be carried out by staff at Keflavik airport. The office is located at the far side of the baggage reclaim hall, downstairs in the airport. Just notify one of the personnel in the area that you need your tackle disinfected and they will have a member of the staff come and complete the process. The price for one fishing set is 3.500 Icelandic kronurs.

- Accommodation
We have moved a spacious and comfotrable 8 bedroom lodge to the riverside. The lodge is combined of 4 buildings, connected with a spacious veranda. We have a nice hot tub and sauna by the lodge. There is a sleeping cabin with 8 twin rooms sharing two bathrooms. Dining/sitting room and kitchen is in one building, then the sauna in another one and the fishroom facilities and freezer in another.
Road information: The lodge is located in Langidalur but that is ca 46km from Hólmavík. When driving form Hólmavík you take route #61 and follow road signs that lead to Ísafjörður. Then go through Steingrímsfjarðarheiði until you reach a sign on your right hand side that says route 635. Go past that sign and drive couple of meters. Ahead on your left hand side there is a information parking area. The next turn is to a dirt road which leads into Langidalur. You drive the dirt road into the valley past a couple of summerhouses (to the left) and 4 km later the lodge is right by the river on your right hand side.
