- The river
-
Hroarslaekur – or Hroi as it is often called, is a tributary to West Ranga. It’s a medium to small sized river, ideal for single handed rods and floating lines. Hroarslaekur yields between 250 and 400 salmon annually, with numbers rising each year, on it's 4 rods. The river is about 8 kilometers long and the confluence of Hroarslaekur and West Ranga is fished by anglers in Hroi.

| Many fantastic fly pools to be found in this river |
Very peaceful surroundings - and very good fishing. |
In addition to the salmon there are also very big arctic char in the river, it’s fairly common to catch 2 – 5 pound chars. Most anglers bring them back to the lodge and slap them on the Bar-B-Q in the evening – a grilled, freshly caught char is hard to beat. Access to the pools is very good and a regular 4x4 sedan is more than enough to get to most pools – but as always in Iceland, the higher clearance – the better.

| A single handed rod will cover all pools |

| The lodge is a well kept old farmhouse, very quaint |
The self catering lodge that comes with Hroarslaekur is very conveniently located on the lower part of the river. It has 4 twin bedrooms and is quite cosy.
Since the river is in such proximity to West- and East Ranga, it is ideal to combine a trip to either of those two large rivers with a couple of days in this little gem. It would be a nice change of pace to store the big double hand and swing the single handed rod instead.
We are proud to offer this new addition to the list of Lax-a salmon rivers and we expect that many of our friends will enjoy themselves immensely on the banks of little river next summer (and in years to come).
