Good start to the salmon season

Now the first rivers have opened in Iceland. River Nordura opened first and the opening there gave 24 salmon, next in line was our very own Blanda which gave 23 salmon from the opening two days on four rods. River Þverá/Kjarrá opened yesterday and the opening day gave 30 salmon which is an excellent result.

The remaining rivers will open in  the next few days with the latest ones opening on July 1st.  Salmon has already been seen in most of the rivers that are yet to open. Arni Baldursson took a short trip up to our little river Leirvogsá and saw there three large salmon. Leirvogsá does not open until June 24th.
