Final numbers from Stóra Laxá

Yesterday was the last day of fishing in river Stóra Laxá. The final number of caught fish was 882 salmons and 53 trout.

Of the 882 salmons, 603 were over 70cm and 10 were over 100cm which puts them in the 20 pound plus bracket. A total of 69% of the catch this summer was a two year salmon with grilse only amounting to 31%. Now that is a statistic every angler likes to see.

This is the second best year the river has had and the 882 salmons put Stóra Laxá in the 9th place on the top ten list of most catches in the Icelandic rivers this summer.

We are very pleased with the results and look forward to next year.
