 There are a number of fantastic hunting opportunities in Africa...... But Zimbabwe must be on of the best.

Our wildlife concessions and our diverse hunting quotas allow us to tailor make safaris for our clients' individual requirements.
All Operators must be registered and licenced with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. Operators are responsible for obtaining the permits and supplying the necessary services such as camp accommodation, catering, trackers, skinners, vehicles and a Zimbabwe qualified Pofessional Hunter.
Hunting in Zimbabwe is on a sustainable use basis with quotas issued for each concession. Quotas for protected species such as elephant, leopard, cheetah and crocodile are granted by CITES annually.
Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe
Members are registered and licenced with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and hold Public Liability Insurance. They must employ registered, licenced Professional Guides or Hunters to conduct walks or hunts. To check if an Operator is bona fide ask for their ZTA Licence number. This should commence with three letters (e.g. PSO, HOP, etc) followed by a number.
Members include Photographic Tourism Operators such as lodges, canoe safaris and whitewater rafting, as well as Hunting Operators who operate legally on a sustainable utilisation quota basis, with Cites approval.
Sustainable Utilisation was pioneered in Zimbabwe and involves indigenous communities in the financial benefits from tourism and hunting. It has proved successful in reducing land degradation and poaching and the system is now used widely in Africa.
Our Camps.
We operate over 15 camps with guest accommodation comprising either luxury tents or thatched rondavels. Bathrooms are ensuite, with hot and cold running water and flush toilets. All rooms have comfortable beds with inner sprung mattresses and mosquito nets. Daily laundry is part of the service and ironing is done using a flat coal heated iron. The rooms are well lit by either 12 volt or electrical generator.
A wide range of fine cuisine is prepared by talented chefs at each camp. Our menus include items such as roast loin of eland and guinea fowl casserole. Imported wine is served with lunch and dinner, and all drinks are covered by the daily rates. If you have any particular dietary preferences, please let us know, so we can provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Please note: Zimbabwe use a 220v electrical system so U.S. based hunters using a 110v system must bring adapters.
Clothing and equipment.
Daytime temperatures are warm throughout the year so we recommend light tan clothing. However, during the winter months (May to mid August), nights can get quite cold, so a warm jacket is essential. Walking is an integral part of hunting, so please make sure you have comfortable, well worn-in walking shoes. Other items that are important are a pair of binoculars, a knife, a reliable camera, sunglasses, suntan lotion and a good hat.
Please note that it is illegal to wear camouflage clothing in Zimbabwe.
Health and safety.
Each camp is equipped with a well stocked first aid box, however, if you require specific medication we recommend you bring a sufficient supply.
It is crucial that you obtain malaria prophylactics before entering Zimbabwe, as all of HHK Safaris Camps are based within Malaria Areas. When purchasing these, please tell your doctor or pharmacist which areas in Zimbabwe you intend visiting. Start your course at least 24 hours before entering Zimbabwe and continue taking the pills for 6 weeks after leaving the country. If you suffer from side-effects, try taking your malaria prophylactics after dinner, as this usually minimises the effect of the symptoms. Precautionary measures that you can take to prevent contact with mosquitoes are: sleeping under a bed net or in a room/tent with mosquito proofing (remember to keep the flaps zipped at all times); spraying your accommodation with insecticide; making use of a mosquito-repelling lotion or stick; and wearing long-sleeved clothing, long trousers and socks when outside at night.
Our Camps are covered by MARS (Medical Air Rescue Service), they provide a highly professional evacuation service in case of medical emergencies.
Firearms and ammunation.
We leave the particular choice of firearm to our clients, however National Parks' regulations in Zimbabwe require minimum callibres for certain species. You will need a rifle of .375 or bigger for the heavy, thick skinned animals such as buffalo or elephant, and anything from a .270 upwards for the smaller soft skinned antelopes. The temporary importation of semi-automatic weapons or handguns is not prohibited, and there is no limit on the amount of ammunition you may bring into the country. We recommend you bring soft cases for your weapons, gun cleaning equipment and a gun belt with ammo pouches. Depending on what you are hunting, you will need at least 40 rounds of soft points and 20 rounds of full metal jackets. If you enjoy bird shooting, bring along a shotgun as we offer excellent opportunities for bird shooting in all our areas, which makes for a pleasant afternoon's entertainment. 6" shot for francolin and guinea fowl and 8" shot for dove and sandgrouse.
Pre or post hunt holiday trips.
Arrangements can be made for pre or post hunt holiday trips to many of the top tourist destinations in and around Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa and is well known for its excellent hotels, infrastructure, facilities and for the openness and friendliness of its people. The climate is warm and wet during summer (November to March), with cool, dry winters, between April and October. The best months for hunting are over the dry period.

Trophy Preparation and shipping:
The skinners in the camps are taxidermy trained and your trophies will be expertly caped and field cured in camp. We will also arrange the packing, crating and export of your trophies with a professional shipping agent. The dipping and dispatch of your trophies is an additional cost dependent on the number of trophies assigned for export.
