The fishing season in Iceland will start in 5 days or the 1st April. For many that marks the cold winter months saying there goodbyes and warmer, brighter times ahead.
The sound of the first arrived Golden Plover has for a very long time been considered a sign in Iceland that summer is coming, as the bird has arrived. Even every year, the first sound of the Golden Plover will be in the newspaper where you can read about it and Icelanders listen for it. The bird therefore for so many signifies bright times and warmer weather.
