I have just arrived to Camp Bonaventure this afternoon, we drove all the way from Ottawa city, 14 hours drive. Beutiful drive with great sightseeing of this wonderful country. There has been no rain here for the past 6 weeks so waterlevel is critically low, we stopped @ Cold Spring camp on the Matapedia river, same story there, we will fsh there later this month.
There are lot's and lot's of fish in the river but hard to move, weather is sunny and 30c!! But I braught tons of Icelandic microtubes and hitch to use, some flies I don't think the salmon has seen so far during the season, so I think we will do well for the next week. Weather should change and early saturday morning hurricane Earl should run over us with a lot of rain and that's only good news.. The lodge here in Bonaventure is amazing, so wonderful, they are serving a huge supper now, really looking forward to it!! ill keep you updated on the catches for the next week..Axelo

06 February 2012 The 2012 salmon fishing season commenced 1st of February at River Dee with the traditional opening ceremony held this year at the Potarch Bridge. The opening ceremony was very well attended with around 250 people gathered on the river bank to watch TV personality Paul Whitehouse perform the ceremonial cast and entertain the audience. There were 30 salmon reported on opening day with the first fish of the season landed at 9.45 am by delighted angler Graeme Scott with a nice 12lb fish at Commonty. The heaviest fish on opening day were actually two, both 36 inches. Two salmons were caught on our Lower Crathes beat with angler Greig Thomson catching one and losing another fish at the net shortly before the first catch.

06 February 2012 Greenland is the wildest place on earth for char fishing. This is the biggest island in the world, and in fact one of biggest countries as well. Greenland is inhabited with only 55.000 people, sharing thousands of rivers and lakes, full of Arctic Char. This means that many of those fishing areas are hardly fished at all, some rivers have not seen an angler - ever. You will catch Searun Arctic Char from 1 – 7 lbs. The fishing is on a vouluntary catch and release basis, but you will appreciate this high quality fish on the BBQ as often as you like.
