06 February 2012 The 2012 salmon fishing season commenced 1st of February at River Dee with the traditional opening ceremony held this year at the Potarch Bridge. The opening ceremony was very well attended with around 250 people gathered on the river bank to watch TV personality Paul Whitehouse perform the ceremonial cast and entertain the audience. There were 30 salmon reported on opening day with the first fish of the season landed at 9.45 am by delighted angler Graeme Scott with a nice 12lb fish at Commonty. The heaviest fish on opening day were actually two, both 36 inches. Two salmons were caught on our Lower Crathes beat with angler Greig Thomson catching one and losing another fish at the net shortly before the first catch.

06 February 2012 Greenland is the wildest place on earth for char fishing. This is the biggest island in the world, and in fact one of biggest countries as well. Greenland is inhabited with only 55.000 people, sharing thousands of rivers and lakes, full of Arctic Char. This means that many of those fishing areas are hardly fished at all, some rivers have not seen an angler - ever. You will catch Searun Arctic Char from 1 – 7 lbs. The fishing is on a vouluntary catch and release basis, but you will appreciate this high quality fish on the BBQ as often as you like.

01 February 2012 Brynjudalsa is a small, delicate river right outside of Reykjavik (45 min. drive) that offers very good fishing, regularly going over 300 salmon on 2 rods. This river is perfect for short trips, one or two days, and can also hold your attention for longer periods.
There are several options for accommodation available, a cottage near the river, a hotel close by or simply stay in Reykjavik and have a guide take you back and forth.

Famed rivers such as Kola, Kitsa, Yokanga, Varzina and the renowned Ponoi are all destinations that Lax-a can offer.
